WHY NAU? |
I had always wanted to become an expert in the field of Education, and when I got the scholarship to study Educational Economics and Management at such a prestigious institution, I knew I could not pass up on the opportunity. I had also wanted to study at a reputable university in China that would allow me to explore and experience diverse cultures during my study period and I knew that NAU would be just the place to do it. |
WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT BEING A STUDENT AT NAU? |
What I like most about being a student at NAU has got to be the extensive support that I get from my supervisor, who is not only invested in making sure I am the best but also concerned about my overall well being. The College of International Education (COIE) is also very instrumental in supporting the well being of international students and thus I have felt very well grounded. NAU being such a reputable institution also has extensive resources academically and also resources to support extra-curricular activities. All these aspects brought together have made NAU such a pleasant space to be in these past four years. |
WHAT ARE YOUR CHALLENGES IN YOUR STUDY PROGRAM? |
As a Ph.D student I have a lot of responsibilities especially with regard to my academic requirements such as publishing articles in SSCI journals and meeting my supervisor’s deadlines. Sometimes I am so busy I barely find time to rest. These very challenges however, have been my championing encouragement, especially when I get to see the results of the hard work such as my published articles, I know it was all worth it. |
HOW DO YOU THINK YOUR DEGREE WILL HELP YOU IN YOUR LIFE AND CAREER? |
This doctorate degree has changed my life for the better. This degree will enable me to get prestigious academic/industry positions in world-renowned institutions in the field of Education Leadership and Management. It will also open doors for me to become a Principal Investigator in Education research endeavors that are pertinent to me as well. |
DO YOU HAVE ANY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FUTURE STUDENTS AT NAU? |
Your supervisor is the most important individual with regard to your academics, you need to make sure that you form a working and sustainable relationship with him/her for you to succeed in your studies. It’s important to work smartly and diligently while still finding time to rest, because all work and no play makes Jack a dull person. You need to master the art of not giving up and picking yourself up all the time things don’t go as planned as it’s a given that things do get tough at some point. Find a group of supportive friends to socialize with as this is crucial towards leading a balanced life. |
