CCTV-4 broadcasted the program "A Chinese Professor on the Kenyan Highland" on May 1, introducing Liu Gaoqiong’s contribution to the China-Kenya education cooperation and to Confucius Institute with agricultural characteristics at Egerton University in Kenya.

Liu Gaoqiong is a professor of horticulture from Nanjing Agricultural University (NAU). From 1994 to 2002, NAU and Egerton University jointly implemented the "China-Kenya Higher Education Cooperation Plan". In 1997, Liu was sent to Egerton University by the Ministry of Education of China as a visiting professor. When the Cooperation Plan ended in 2002, he chose to stay and continued to engage in agricultural education, research and extension at Egerton University. From 2013 to 2018, he worked in Confucius Institute at Egerton University as an agricultural expert. Over the past 25 years, Prof. Liu has trained more than 2000 agricultural technicians, and 10 postgraduate students. He witnessed the China-Kenya cooperation in agricultural technology. Prof. Liu not only brought China's latest and best agricultural production technology to Kenyan farmers, but also watered the flower of China-Kenya friendship with ingenuity.
